Hi guys, hoping you can help.

I am using GeneratePress Premium and WP Show Posts. I have a page that dispays category posts via WP Show Posts. I have created an RSS feed for it with FetchRSS, the feed can see everything apart from the images.

I have tried Features Images in RSS for Mailchimp, MB ImageChimp RSS Feed Enhancer and they didn’t work. I understood this was because the images aren’t in the RSS feed to begin with.

I then tried RSS Featured Image and that didn’t work either. I entered various function.php code snippets and still the images aren’t in the feed (no image tags or urls)

After further research I understood that the featured images need to be ‘set’ and that thumbnail support needs to be ‘declared’ (does this mean anything to you?) I am also trying a plugin which allows for the following ‘Use first image in body in RSS feed’ for site and themes that do not use featured images and that doesn’t work either. However, I know Generatepress has Featured Images so not sure if any of this is relevant.

I am thinking there are two variables here: 1. That the RSS feed is for a page and not a post so the usual RSS rules don’t apply and/or 2.The Featured Image isn’t set/enabled in WP Show Posts so the RSS can’t see the image. But of course I am no expert! 🙂

I hope that’s clear! Can I send the link privately so you can take a look please?

    Hi there,

When adding your post, are you setting the featured image using the featured image field?

The plugin itself has no control over your RSS feeds – it simply displays the posts in a loop.

However, as long as the featured image is set using the correct field, any of those plugins should be able to pick it up and add it to your RSS feed.

    Hi Tom,

Thanks for getting back to me. When you say the correct Featured Image field, do you mean the area in the right-hand side sidebar entitled Featured image with the link ‘Set featured image’?
If so, this is what I have always used because I don’t know any other way to upload one other than via this space. Is there a different way to do it?

Just to add I have been using Generatepress for a few years now , and WordPress for over 15 and I don’t know any other way to upload the Featured Image other than the Featured Image field. Can I send the link to said page to you privately please? When you look at the source code you might spot something. I really need the image in my RSS feed and I don’t understand why it is not being outputted in the code. I’ve tried everything I can think of. Thanks so much.

Yes that’s correct. The default way of adding a featured image.

As Tom mentioned, the plugin doesn’t control how the RSS displays. WordPress core handles this.

You can try the suggested solution on this topic:

    Hi Elvin,

You missed my later post. I have tried several code snippets and various plugins before reaching out to support, but nothing has worked. Upon checking the source code/RSS feed for my site, it shows the post content, but the image tag is not included, so no image. I just want to find out if this is correct. Can I send you the link privately so you can look at the source code and tell me if WP Show Posts/Generatepress is working as it should? If it all looks correct to you then I will troubleshoot from there. Thanks.
