Right now the featured post is just the most recent post. Have you tried setting your post as “sticky”? That should make it stay in that #1 spot.

on the blog side, “sticky” ist ok
but in the wp show posts, no result…
one idea is to make a featured catégory
for wpshowposts only.
is not a “big” problem…your plugin is amazing 🙂

I like the idea of being able to specify a tag or category for the featured spot. I’ll take a look at that for a future version 🙂

Tom, I don’t know where your thinking on being able to specify a tag, or perhaps a custom ‘priority’ taxonomy. Thinking about it a three level taxonomy would allow you to automatically make all sorts of custom layouts which would enable WP Show Posts to serve well for the needs of many hyperlocal news sites which are growing out of a wordpress blog
