ParticipantI’ve tagged the featured post at the top of the home page as “featured” in https://muskokastyle.com/test1/ (and all the alternative home pages as well) but can’t see a way to exclude it from the category lists for the rest of the home page, other than by ID, which I don’t want to do, as this is obviously dynamic. I have looked for an appropriate PHP code snippet, but can’t find one. I can use either a tag or a category, but I do need to get rid of the duplicate posts some way or other. I used a tag for the featured post because that way it didn’t interfere with the setting of the primary category for when the post was no longer the featured post (had been superseded by a more recent one). For that reason I haven’t opted to use offsets either. I am trying not to make this too complicated for my client who does all her own posts. 😉
(BTW – it would be great if the “Exclude” section in “More Settings” had an option to exclude by tag or category.)

ParticipantIt should be noted that I’m going to have to stop my client from assigning every category under the sun to her posts – I think she may have tags and categories a little confused and figures more is better for SEO or something. 😉

KeymasterHi there,
I wonder if the solution here would work for you?: https://wpshowposts.com/support/topic/stop-showing-duplicate-posts-on-the-same-page-post-using-a-different-shortcode/#post-15716
Let me know 🙂

ParticipantWoot! That worked*. 🙂 I’d seen that post a few days ago, when I was reading the forum, but then forgot about it and it didn’t come up when I searched.
Of course, I’ll have to turn it off to show the client the alternative home pages – not sure what she’ll want there in the way of repetition.
As always – thanks for the help. The https://muskokastyle.com/test1 is a rebuild of a Thesis site (https://muskokastyle.com ) – and you have no idea how much easier it was to do in GPP with GB and WPSP. Or maybe you do… 😉 And it’s faster too – without caching and minification/optimization turned on. At any rate, I’ll be rebuilding another 20 or so sites in the next little while.
*I’ll likely need it for a couple of other sites too, so it will be very handy. Thanks!
