    Hi Tom,

Most if not all of our images have alternative text. It was input in the Alternative Text field for image files in the Media Library. When inspecting these images, however, it shows there is no alt text.

Please inspect the image elements on this page: arenasfoto(dot)com

    * The 3 yellow images from Wedding Wire had alt text input in the Alternative Text field in the block editor (it appears when an image block is selected). When inspected, these three images do have alt text.

    Thank, Tom.

    Hi there,

These seem to all be core Image Blocks. If the alt works on some of them, it should work on all of them as long as it’s defined/added to the image.

If the alt was changed after the image was added (in the Media Library), you may need to re-add the image to the page for it to be inserted.

    Hi Tom,

I just responded to you on this topic on GP. I certainly hope this is not the case, as it will take days to do given that there are about 2,500 images. It’s for a wedding photography website. Many clients find us by an images search, so having image alt text is a bit important. Now I know why our ranking dropped quite a bit after launching the new site. It would be like having no text on GP’s website, and just photos.

Thanks, Tom. Have a good one.

It may be worth getting a quote to have someone write a function that loops through all of your pages and adds the updated alt text. I’m sure it’s possible, but it would definitely take some advanced PHP.

    Hi Tom,

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve about 8 hours re-uploading the photos from the Media Gallery. The time it would take to find someone to do it an then implement it, would probably take more time and cost quite a bit.

    Thank!

    Andrés
