WP Show Posts does indeed work when the “More” block is used for excerpts. After I entered text for the Read More button, it also displayed. I was delighted with this until I scrolled down the page and noticed that the Read More button now displays on every post, including full length posts that don’t have the More block! Having a Read More button when there is no excerpt of more content is undesirable.
This could likely be fixed with a few lines of PHP, but I don’t want to mess with the plugin’s core code. Perhaps Tom could take a look at this issue and post some code I could add to functions.php.

Just saw your query. Have a look at the solution I’ve just posted at the end of the thread ‘Combine Excerpts and Full posts?’: https://wpshowposts.com/support/topic/combine-excerpts-and-full-posts/. It offers a simple way of giving authors the choice in each post of whether to display it as an excerpt with a link, or as the full post without a link.

SimonThanks Simon. Your solution works great using the Aside post format for the short posts. This will require some extra training for the client, but it’s better than having the Read More button display on short posts where the More block or <!–more–> tag is not used.
I still see this issue as something that WP Show Posts should handle automatically when the More block or <!–more–> tag is not present.
