    Hi Guys
I’ve created a simple events listing for a committee using PODS and I’m using WPSP to display them. The trouble is that I’m having is that committee members are going to be posting events at random and they won’t be in date order of when they take place. The sample page is at http://nowbusinessnetwork.com.au/test-list/

    Three questions.

Is it possible to order the posts by a custom field (called event_date in the this case)?

Is it possible to hide events which have already taken place (event_date would the field again)

Is it possible to hide the Read More button?

    Thanks very much.

    Hi there,

It depends on the value of the custom field. If the value is a number, you can likely use a solution like this: https://wpshowposts.com/support/topic/sort-by-custom-field-value/#post-7803

I’m not sure about hiding events that have already happened. Perhaps the plugin you’re using can set them to “draft” once the date has passed?

You should be able to remove the read more button by leaving the read more option empty inside your list settings.

    Let me know 🙂

    Hi Tom
Thanks for the reply. I couldn’t follow your sorting instructions because the field concerned was a date field. The other stuff I managed to get right but, in the end, decided that PODS was just too hard to work with. Luckily I discovered Very Simple Event Listing (VSEL) which does everything I wanted by default; order by date, hide past events etc. Yippee.

I love WPSP but a future update where it would be easier to insert custom fields would be most welcome.

    Cheers

I’ll definitely look into it 🙂

    Thanks!
