    Hi Tom,

How can I configure WP Show Posts to replicate the following category page on our current site (GP Pro + Elementor)? The new site uses GP Pro + WP Show Posts Pro with no page builder. The Blog Module is disable. We’re using custom PHP archives for all category pages.

Category page in question on current site: https://arenasfoto.com/costa-rica-wedding-venues/

    This is the current structure:

    1. Costa Rica Wedding Venues (Parent Category Page)
    A. Luxury Venues (Child Category Page)
    B. Unique Venues (Child Category Page)

What I am looking to do is have a posts list on the parent category page that queries the main image, title, and excerpt of only the 2 child categories in a 2-column posts list. The individual posts for assigned to each child category page will appear on the corresponding child category page, not on the parent category page.

    Here’s a diagram of the hierarchy: https://prnt.sc/tc95t5

Thank you and have a good day.

    Cheers!

    Andrés

    Hi there,

Are you wanting the parent category to output looks to the child categories? What about the posts in that parent category? Where would they display?

WP Show Posts only queries posts, not categories. You would likely need to build a completely custom category archive to query the child categories, unfortunately.

    Hi Tom,

I’ll respond to all your replies on this same subject here and mark the other ones as resolved.

No worries. I just didn’t know how to do that same thing using GP Pro + WPSP. I was hoping to keep the same hierarchy given that Yoast breadcrumbs is implemented on the current site, and wanted to have it on the new sit too, if possible.

As a resolution, what do you think about just creating page and creating the same look and front-end functionality with GenerateBlocks to replicate the category page that has the two option on it that are linked to the category pages where the posts are listed?

Would you happen to know if I could still use Yoast’s breadcrumbs doing it this way?

    Thank you Tom!

    Sincerely,

    Andrés

Yes, that’s what I would do. I’m not familiar with Yoast breadcrumbs, but I assume there must be a way to set a page as a parent to a category (maybe through a filter). You may have to ask their support if that’s possible if it’s not an option in their Dashboard.
