ParticipantHey Tom its me again,
trying to use WP Show Posts for the first time. I have two lists one for BLOG and one for SIDEBAR. If I change settings in the BLOG list I thought it would change my blog archive page settings, but there are no changes…what did I wrong?
I´m trying to get the look like the ASPIRE demo, with border, social icons and change the bottom styling. but nothing happened.Could you please help me?
Or ist WP Show Posts only für widgets in the footer and sidebar?
Thanks in advance
Simone

KeymasterHi Simone,
It won’t change the archive template of the theme, but it will change the list once you add it to a static page.
So, if you add the list to one of your pages and then make updates to the list, those updates will appear on that static page with the list.
Let me know if this helps or not 🙂

ParticipantThank you Tom, that helps.
Just to make sure I got it right: I take a static page for my WP Show Posts blog archive, and with the help of WP Show posts this static page will be my archive page??
What should I customize in the start page settings?
So I don´t have or need an archive page anymore?
This is a bit confusing to me….
Sorry, I am just a wordpress user for my own page, unfortunally no webdesigner or css crack …

KeymasterYour archive page will still exist, as WordPress generates it automatically. The archive page is still handled by your theme.
WPSP is meant to display short lists of posts on static pages – it’s not really meant as a replacement for the main archives within your theme.
There is a way to replace categories/archives with a static page though – it’s just a little complicated: https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/replace-default-post-category-template-with-a-blank-page-template/#post-608394

ParticipantFor now I solved it with the static page.
Just wondering why you add this possibility in the Aspire demo when WP Show Posts is not created for this…
I mean in the demo the archive page looks like its styled by WP Show posts, so I thought my archive page would look like the same when I´m using aspire demo….Thank you for your help, support and this great theme!!

KeymasterIt seems like the designer of Aspire wanted to control other aspects of the page with Elementor, so they went with using WPSP instead of the default blog style.

ParticipantAh, now I understand!
But that is exactly what I really would like to avoid. I tried before to make my archive page and single post with elementor, but I´ve got a huge respect for the technique behind, so I´d rather leave this funktionallity in the theme´s options. And hey: it looks beautiful anyway 😉

KeymasterI prefer to use the theme options as well. Whatever isn’t achievable with the options is usually easy to accomplish with a little CSS 🙂
