ParticipantHi, I just purchased WP Show Posts Pro and I’ve just been having some fun playing with it! One thing I noticed that in all the orderby options, menu_order isn’t there – in a couple of places I’d like to display items in that order. Is there a workaround for this besides actually including the post IDs in the order I want them?
I also have a feature request – I think it would be helpful if you could set the items on the featured post and the following posts independently. Like for instance, have your featured post with a thumbnail, a title and a 50 word excerpt, then the rest of the posts just be the thumbnail and title – or no thumbnail, just a title with a 20 word excerpt or whatever. A 35 word excerpt isn’t very big when it’s stretched across 2 columns, and a 35 word excerpt is almost TOO big when it’s in 2 columns.
I also agree there was another person who asked for a duplicate function, where you could copy a post list you’ve already tweaked and then go in and change a few things instead of having to set all the colors and padding etc all the time.
Other than that, everything seems really good and it’s going to be hugely helpful! 🙂
Thanks, Cindy

KeymasterHi Cindy,
That option does look like it’s missing.
Can you try adding this settings parameter to your shortcode?:
[wp_show_posts id="123" settings="orderby=menu_order"]
Of course, 123 needs to be replaced by your list ID.
I wonder what the UI would look like for a feature like that. Almost like a different excerpt length for items in columns vs full width?
As for the duplicate function, there’s quite a few plugins out there that achieve that. This being one of them: https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/duplicate-post/

ParticipantI had this same question and this shortcode fix worked.

ParticipantPerfect thank you! FYI I did have the ‘Notify me of follow-up replies via email’ checked but I didn’t receive any mails – just checked my spam folder too and there was nothing either. From you I mean – I got a couple lines on pharmaceuticals tho. 🙂
As for the UI I was thinking maybe make the alternate settings for the first post display only when the ‘Featured Post’ is checked – you could default it to the same as the main settings but if they’ve entered something in, then it would override the default on the first post. Or you could actually add the whole Featured Post and settings under its own tab. That might be a little cleaner anyhow.

KeymasterThis server has been having some email issues – working on it.
Thanks for the suggestion! Really appreciate it 🙂
